Abstract

The publication is part of a research report prepared by the author in 1965 during the expedition of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University to study urban settlements in the Central Economic Region. G.M. Lappo (1923-2020) led a detachment to study small towns. The report was found in the spring of 2023 in the archive of the Department of Economic and Social Geography of Russia, Moscow State University. Published for the first time.
